Things are changing at GP practices, with online services, longer opening hours and other new investments rolling out nationally.
From January until the end of March 2018, more than two million randomly selected people registered with GP practices will be invited to answer a postal questionnaire about their experiences so if you are selected please do take part. For the first time, 16 and 17 year olds will be included and the survey will cover new questions about recent service changes and topics including mental health. The survey is carried out securely and information published does not identify individuals. The findings will help to see what’s working and what needs to improve. So if you are selected to take part, please take the time to have your say.

Wyke Health Centre was very good early days since Lanehouse joined up.

Thank you for your comment John. I am pleased that you have had a positive experience.

I will pass your comment on to Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group colleagues and Healthwatch Dorset, who also collect feedback about local health and social care services. See their website:

I suggest one of the biggest challenges is balance. I can see the pressure our GP Practice is under- the excessive demands made on GPs, Nurses and others in the team. With the higher expectations that GP Practices provide the front line service to the general public, how can we ensure we can access a GP when needed? I've found GPs are having to delegate patients to others in the team ( not GPs) and in several situations this has created several phone calls; more time spent by the GP in phone consultations with the end result.....after four phone consultations- see the patient. By this time the illness is worse and recuperation takes longer. It's not the GPs' fault. Too much is expected without the resources to back it up.

Thank you for your comments Mary. They echo much of the coverage around GP services.

What we will do is share back the results of this national survey once they are out.

Thanks again.
