We’ve put together a short survey to gather the views of the people who matter – those living with type 2 diabetes, their carers and the healthcare professionals who help them. The survey will take less than five minutes to complete and your answers will help to shape the new website. Your responses will be completely anonymous and there are no right or wrong answers. Opportunity to join programme boards for cardiac, stroke and respiratory workstreams of the NHS Long Term Plan
The British Heart Foundation (BHF), the British Lung Foundation (BLF) and the Stroke Association (SA) are working together to find six Patient Voice Representatives to help take forward the NHS England Long Term Plan. This will be your chance to help drive improvement in how the NHS prevents, detects and treats heart, respiratory and circulatory conditions. Use your voice and patient / carer experiences to influence decisions and ensure these are focussed on what matters most to patients and carers. For more information on getting involved visit the BHF, BLF or SA websites (as appropriate for your experiences) deadlines for applications are 20th and 26th August (depending on experience / interest area).
Health Education England (HEE) is looking to recruit new lay members for its national Patient Advisory Forum; an advisory group to HEE’s Board, which supports us to provide high-quality healthcare training and education for the NHS workforce. This group was first established in 2013 and we are now looking to recruit new members as a number have completed their term of office.
Do you live in England and are able to offer eight to ten days per year? Can you bring learning from lived experience as a patient or a carer? Are you able to help us ensure that patients and the public are at the heart of the education, training and workforce planning processes? Whilst these are not salaried positions, we offer a rate of up to £150 per day, along with out of pocket expenses. Interviews are planned for the 16th and 18th September in central London. We will share the findings of the survey with NHS England Public Health (Wessex), who will use them to inform their work with local GPs and with the national NHS screening programme. Your thoughts will also be used to inform local cancer awareness campaigns taking place in 2019. Do you know, or work with, male cancer patients or carers from ethnic minority backgrounds? Would they be willing to share their experiences with brap? brap are an equalities charity working with NHS England to look at the lived experiences of ethnic minority cancer patients and their carers. It would involve a 45 minute interview at a convenient time and location of your choosing. It could be a telephone interview if you would like. brap are able to cover the cost of local travel expenses for participants. The findings from this project will be used to improve how the NHS responds to ethnic inequalities in the experiences of cancer patients in the future. Cancer survival rates are higher than ever, and fewer people are dying from cancer. But we know that that there is more to do so that every patient has the best chance of survival and receives the very best treatment.
With a new five year funding settlement, the NHS is now developing a long-term plan. This includes looking at future priorities for cancer care in England. The NHS wants to hear from people, organisations and their networks about their experiences and priorities, including what has worked in your area. NHS England are looking for expert PPV partners for a variety of groups who have a good knowledge and understanding of the health and care system nationally, regionally and/or locally to join their various advisory groups, and help shape NHS digital health services for people, patients and carers.
The main role of PPV partners is to ensure that patient voice is heard within the various groups by constructively challenging, offering insight and views from a patient/citizen perspective. NHS E are specifically looking for PPV partners who can demonstrate an understanding of and who have a strong interest in digital health services and the opportunity they provide in empowering people and patients to manage their health and care. Membership of the groups is for 12 months initially, and will then be reviewed. The closing date for applications is Monday 3rd September 2018 (midnight).
